Seductive images of models in ads, music, and videos showing girls dancing in skirts the size of belts and even video game heroines flaunting skimpy outfits are considered a cultural norm in today’s twenty-first century lifestyle (Khidelkel, 2008, p. 153). According to a cosmogirl.com poll, 81 percent of their readers feel bombarded with sex and sexy images in the media, and 85 percent think there’s more sex in the media now than in their youth (Khidelkel, 2008, p. 153). A recent Newsweek poll found that 84 percent of American adults say sex plays a bigger role in popular culture than it did 20 or 30 years ago. Celebrities and models who set the unspoken standard for adolescents have promoted the need for girls to look sexy. In 2007, the American Psychological Association released a report concluding that girls exposed to sexualized images from a young age are more prone to three of the most common mental health problems for girls and women: depression, eating disorders, and low self-esteem (Khidelkel, 2008, p. 155).

girls are influence by the behaviour of other girls in the media. it is shown to cool tosmoke dope, do crack and shoot heroin in movies. where as in realy life it really screws with you. girls will do these silly things to be cool impress people and or guys and to become popular like the girls in movies and tv series. things are made out to be glamorous and make you invincible but really it just messes with your body and mind and doesnt make you any of these.

stereotypical chracters in television.

Alot of girls- young women see these characters in movie tv shows and magazines and feel as though they need to be the way that the characters are. there is alot of pressure for girls and women to be this way as the male eye finds it more attractive. girls in tv are seen with short skirts, skimpy tops and dresses and high heels, they show alot of skin, legs and clevage and this makes them more popular with alot of the audience. seeing these types of people everyday and everywhere make alot of women self consious and feeling the need to be the way that the girls in the media are.

Provocative Girlies.

Teen girls are represented as very provocative in many films. These girls are meant to be around the ages of sixteen or seventeen, but in real life you dont see many girls of this age dressing like this for a halloween party. Also in other movies teenage girls are shown to be some what promiscuous like in the movie 'House Bunny' a retired 27 year old playboy bunny comes into sorority house for teenaged girls and completely changes the way of the girls, making them pose for a nude callendar to make money to pay for their house. This falsely shows that any teenages girl no matter their personallity would willingly take of their clothes and pose for money.
